Who we are:
Hi, I’m Hallie and I’m the owner of Murphy’s Mellows. I often get asked why I started making marshmallows. There are lots of reasons, but the real reason is because I was curious (you can make marshmallows?).. and I was bored and looking for a challenge… and because it seemed like most of my favorite childhood memories include marshmallows and s’mores, whether it was starry nights at the lake, cool fall evenings by the bonfire, playing cards with my grandparents while drinking hot chocolate, or making s’mores with my friends.
When I began making marshmallows, I quickly discovered that even the question, “do you want a marshmallow” makes people smile. That’s the best part of our job. Knowing that our products bring our customers joy and give them the opportunity to make happy memories is the reason we do what we do.
We are proud of the fact that our marshmallows and s’mores not only make people happy, but that we use quality ingredients, organic fruit and juices, natural flavorings and colors for our products. We don’t use high fructose corn syrup, preservatives or artificial colors. Our fluffy little cubes of happiness are great on their own, toasted in a s’more, tossed into oatmeal or floating in your hot chocolate. There is no wrong way to enjoy them, but the best way with families and friends. So, what’s your favorite way to get toasted?
Why us:
Sometimes people ask what makes our marshmallows different or better than the ones they can get at the grocery store. The answer is quite straight forward – ingredients and company values. Our marshmallows are made with ingredients most thigs people have in their kitchen – sugar, Karo, water and gelatin (grass fed, all beef). Our flavors come from things you can find in any grocery – fruit and fruit juices or purees, vanilla and other flavor extracts, spices. Even our food coloring is all natural and made from vegetables and edible plants. That bag of pure white marshmallows or brightly colored chicks and bunnies cannot say the same.
But even more than that, we are different because of who we are. We are not a large corporation; we are a small business standing behind our product. If you have a question and you call the phone number on our website, chances are that the person who answers the phone will be Hallie, our owner and CEO. Want to suggest a new flavor you would like us to make? The person who responds to your email will probably Michelle, our Director of Operations. Your marshmallows and s’mores are made fresh every week, hand packed and ready to ship. We take the time to write you a note when we send your order out, or to include suggestions about the best chocolate combinations with the marshmallows you order in case you want to make s’mores. We want our marshmallows and s’mores to become part of your cherished memories.
I started this page talking about memories of my childhood. Since I began making marshmallows, I have a whole new set of memories… the first time my Irish husband made and tasted a s’more, teaching my son how to make marshmallows to share with his friends, the first time I gave them to my family and, most dearly of all, working with my husband and son to build our business, and now, with my Murphy’s Mellows family. Our clients are a part of that family and that is the real answer to “why us”.
